Nancy Carter and Don Cash

When I posted the 10 Things, Honest Scrap Meme, I said I lead when slow dancing. I also hoped said Don would break me of that habit.

Last night was dance lesson number two.

As before, it starts out with Arnie Palmers, to that we add vodka, then Don gets out his collection of CD's. Not just any CD mind you. His collection that he bought at 2AM ... as seen on TV.

Hank, June, Johnny, Patsy, even Elvis.

I've gone country!

[Rock and roll never forgets, but I'm diggin' old school country right now too]

We're dancing, Don is crooning, and I am feeling no pain.

Actually Don is a great singer, quite the romantic, and wows the crowd at karaoke.

Me? My family will attest that I can't carry a note in a hand basket. I mouth the words to "happy birthday" at family parties.

However, I sing perfect in the car and shower. Never a bad note, not pitchy, I know all the words, just prime for a record deal. Mmm-hummm

So back to last night. My Arnie's are taking away stage fright and I decide to spout out I will learn a song to sing. Maaaaaaay-be even a duet at karaoke? [Good Lord, I'd have to be blasted, right Captain Obvious?]

So, this is what I'm going to learn:

Shallow Seeks Same

When I first saw this local "news" story, I thought it must be a slow day for them to even feature this. They even ran ads for this story, "coming at 6PM yadda yadda yadda."

Then San sent me a link to the story that included the qualifications, instructions and the application ... oh and the application fee. FEE. Then I saw it made Fox news and was copied to Yahoo news. Bwahahahahaha

[Okay, back to keeping a straight face here]

So locally, (less than 10 minutes from my 'hood) Mr. single, 44 years old, drives an American made car, wanting a family, I AM A MILLIONAIRE, has hired matchmaker Janis Spindel to find his little woman. (That's the only info revealed about Mr. Wonderful)

Let me step aside for one second with these bits. He's paying her a "finders fee" of $50K to start, could be more if it takes longer. She's charging $25 bucks to the applicant, just to be considered. Do you see where I'm going ... mm-hum, yes you do so I'll stop with that whole scheme train of thought.

Now, Mr. Birmingham Man, (Birmingham is quite a snobby, snoody, uppity city) I'll save you the $50K and lay it out in laymen's terms.

You state the four B's are a must : Beauty, Brains, Body, and Balance.

You are marketing yourself as a millionaire, so you are in fact, BUYING your four B's. Mouthing off about your $$$ is a big neon sign asking all wallet trollers to line up and pick a number.

I surmise, you too, must have the four B's qualities:

Bad-looking, Boring, Brainless and most likely BROKE.

Save your $50K, hit up the well known local pick-up joints establishments, flash a few of your charge cards around and they'll line up like flies on shit. Oops, such an analogy.

SHOCKER !

Nooooooooooooooo, not THAT kind of shocker.

This is more shocking.

Jimmy the Greek would have been all in against this one.

If someone told me a year ago I'd be doing this, I would never have believed it.

I still don't believe it.

If I woke up with my face stapled to the carpet, it wouldn't surprise me more than this one.

On my mother's (wait, she's still with us,) father's grave, I swear this would never happen.

Unflippin believable!

Guess what I actually did last night?

(I'm still in shock)

I put four pair of my jeans in the washer with hot water then in the dryer, yes DRYER.

ON PURPOSE!

Someone keeps pointing out my plumbers crack when I sit down because my jeans have gotten a little loose around the waist.

One pair didn't shrink enough, the other three a little, lets hope they don't stretch out as I wear them.

I think I better go get a couple new pair.

Hi Thomas !!!

Hey Thomas, either I am having the time of my life or I am boring as hell.

Seriously? When I have gone this long without a post?

Not even when I was at BlogHer last year in San Fransisco without a computer!

I even resort to posting TBS just so I'm not wiped off the face of blogersville.

So, even though I don't have anything quirky, earth shattering, funny, or informative to share, I think I'll post this photo I saw on the internet.

It doesn't need any words, it speaks for itself.

Happy Birthday Mom

My mom had her 74th birthday last week. My two sisters and I took her out for lunch today. I know brother Mike should have been here too, but it took us a week after her birthday to get the three of us together!

Anyway, here's my sisters Margie and Sandi, Mom and me.

Yeah, I know us sisters could be identical triplets couldn't we? ;)

Oh, and Tiffany, Margie's co-worker joined us,
she most definitely could be a sister too!

Halle Berry Shares a Secret

Halle Berry is beautiful, funny, smart, and talented.

So is her baby daddy significant other.

Well, I don't know if he's funny. He's smart enough to hook Halle, talented enough [smirk] to keep her interest, and indeed, very beautiful handsome.

In this months Bazaar magazine, 42 year old Halle confesses that having a younger (33 year old Gabriel Aubry) man in her life is the key to keeping her "mojo" going.

So does this make Halle a "cougar"?

Looking back at the men I've dated, I realize there was only one that was older than me. The youngest I dated had a 9 year difference. The older I get, the gap closes. Dating a 21 year old wasn't appealing when I was 28 or 29, or even 25 for that matter. I think it's more about the level of maturity and life experiences.

When my kids were still at home, I'd never date anyone who hadn't been married or had never had children. I knew they wouldn't understand the "kid or the ex-husband thing".

Now when it comes to age and dating, I pretty much think guys a little younger then me make a better fit. Most have done the marriage/divorce/raised kids thing and are ready to reclaim their own lives, yet they still have a direction with a goal that needs to be reached. I'm not one to just sit idle. I'll probably never "retire".

I think someone oh, let's say about 5 years 3 months younger than me could keep my "mojo" in check. *wink*

Single women? Do you date younger men, or age really doesn't play a role for you?

Go Detroit Tigers!

"A hot dog at the ball park is better than steak at the Ritz."

Go Tigers!

**** UPDATE***

Tigers POUNCE Rangers
15-2
Way To Open the Season at Home!

This opening day is starting out with blue sunny skies and promise of high 40's temperatures.

Forty's is welcomed here in Michigan. Usually there is rain, snow, gray skies, or high winds or all of that on our past opening days.

So they haven't started out as well as they should have. Now that the first game is being played home, at Comerica Park today, the feel of the season will kick in.

I have on my Detroit Tiger (Verlander # 35) T-shirt. My radio is tuned to WXYZ 1270 and I watch the play by play on the computer.

Ummm, between working that is.

Oh yeah, here's the new hair color ... I already told her to plan on adding low-lights.

So, what do you think?

Yesterday wasn't a bad day. A little bit odd, somewhat hectic, and thankfully this side of the Twilight Zone.

Just before I was leaving work a car pulled up. When he got out, I though holy shit, what's he doing here?

He being someone I dated about six years ago. He doesn't live in the area. He was a puzzlement from the beginning. He who I bolted split from after about 3 months.

He came in, sat down in my office and the very first thing he said was, (nope, it wasn't hi, hello, or any salutation) "Can you explain to me why you didn't want to see me anymore?"

: blink : blink :

I said, "Great, I'm doing great. And you?"

Yes, that's how I answered him.

We talked for about 15 minutes. I think he was okay with my answer. Then I said I had to get going.

Six years later?

So, what do you think?
*~*~*~*~*~*

I went home so Caitlin could cut and highlight my hair.

Highlight being the operative word.

See the pic of my new do?

Of course you don't. I'm not sure if I'll be taking pictures.

I have never had it this "layered" or this "blonde" .... ever.

Maybe I shouldn't have grounded her for most of her senior year in high school.

Paybacks are a bitch.

So, what do you think?
*~*~*~*~*~*

I'm thinking of visiting Lake Orion.

I'm also thinking of buying a McIntosh computer.

I also have a reader that is loyal but doesn't ever leave a comment, not a one.

I'm looking forward to the weekend.

Broken Heart

I've written about the many geese that are around the grounds where I work. The poop! Ugh, I don't even need to go there.

I like looking out my window and watching them walk the grounds and stop traffic with the confidence of entitlement. They are beautiful and more important to me, they are monogamous. They find their mate, pair up and live the happily ever after that eludes most humans.

Last Friday, I was leaving to go to the bank when I saw, on the side of the road, one of the geese had been hit by a car. It was dead. That alone was sad, but the surviving mate standing on the side of the road thisclose to her, just about broke my heart.

He. Just. Stood. There.

On my way back from the bank, I noticed the city must have come and picked up the dead one.

Her mate still waited along the side of the road.

He was sitting, right in the spot she had been laying. I can't believe I started bawling. My heart got stuck in the middle of my throat. I could barely look. A goose! A poopy goose!

When I left work at 5:30, I was glad to see he was gone. But wait, he wasn't. He had moved up the berm, positioned himself under a tree, and was waiting.

I forgot about him this weekend, and as I went in this morning, really didn't notice one way or the other if he was there.

This afternoon, during the snow, I looked out the window. I swallowed as I watched him walk from one side of the drive to the other and back again. Once again, my heart was stuck smack dab in the middle of my throat.

I'm not sure who's heart is hurting more, his or mine. I never thought I'd get so upset over a GOOSE of all things.

Spring is almost here, he'll find his new mate. I know he will be fine.

Seasons

This was taken just a couple hours ago.

April in Michigan, my street, and snow. What season is this?

And, a man and his dog that have seen many seasons.

Every morning, winter, spring, summer, fall I see this old man walk by my house.

His body is crooked. He's hunched over and his wobbly legs need the help of a cane to make it through his morning walk.

The old German Shepard is his constant companion. He too is old, but his steps are in sync with this old man. Every morning.

Sometimes I peer out my front window until they are out of sight. I've wanted to talk to him, but I have yet to catch his attention.

Which ever leaves this world first, the man or his dog, I'm sure the other won't be far behind.

I'm in Lust, a Secret Boyfriend Reveal

{wiping bead of sweat}

Okay, I hope he doesn't get upset at this post, but I've decided to publicly profess my feelings for him.

I've written past posts about my secret boyfriends and crushes. You've all been supportive and I sincerely appreciate that.

When I confessed my crush on Steve Buscemi, you all accepted it. Well, most of you did.

My seasonal fling, although a whirlwind, was exciting enough, but the "L" factor just wasn't there.

Sweet sweet Vinnie John, love your shaved head, but you have had a rough year. You don't need my wild spirit in your life right now.

Colin honey? There will always be a special place for you in my heart.
Always.

I tried Joseph, really, but I'm afraid I'm just not the right sex girl for you.

I let my kinky side get the best of me with this one, thank goodness the most he ever got from me was a kiss.

Nope, my wild days of flipping boyfriends like I was flipping houses are over.

This weekend, this very special weekend, I will be spending time with my secret boyfriend that I will no longer keep secret.

It's not unusual...

or IS it?

Don and I were cracking up, making fun of talking about Tom Jones the other night.

Here is an entertainer, and I will admit, he can entertain [just not quite sure what category to list him in] that most either like, or NOT.

Nancy raises hand to the not part.

I suppose his voice isn't too irritating, yet I can't help to believe that all the hip swaying, pelvis thrusting, and sweaty scarf throwing is more the lure for the women who adore him.

The sixties labeled him "sexy" [by who's definition I'll never figure out] and the tight pants were the rage. I never understood his wardrobe. When I look at pictures of him in his "puffy sleeve shirts" I immediately think of the hilarious Seinfeld episode "The Puffy Shirt".

I'm going to bypass his hits, yeah he's had them. I prefer to think the songs as hits due to content and writing than the performance.

What an "unusual" fellow he really is:
  • Married at 16, and still with the same woman over 52 years.
  • Has cheated and had affairs, more than he can count.
  • Major 2 year affair: Mary Wilson of the Supremes
  • Has odd sex habits [just g00gle it yourself, I'm not going there]
  • Took Elvira's virginity which landed her in ER [see above]
  • 2005 The Queen Knighted him. [hu?]
  • Thinks Angelina Jolie defines sexy.
  • etc., etc., etc.
Perhaps he is all that and a can of Pringles, but I just don't get it!

Seriously, I'd rather watch these guys than Tom~

From the movie "The Full Monty"
Ladies, watch till the end if you haven't already see this movie.

My Five Cents Worth

Last Sunday Don asked me how many nickles I would have if I received one for each time I ... well wait, that's not the point.
( get your mind out of the gutter)

The point being my answer was "ONE".
( and that's only if you pay me my nickel Don )

With my on-going "shifting directions" in my life, changing up my ideas, and planning for my future, his question did get me thinking.

There are many "firsts" still to be had/discovered by me. I'm not talking about the major life changing, obvious ones, I'm talking about the little things in my day to day life. The ones you experience and are aware of once you slow down and "stop to smell the roses."

What about you?

If asked the question "How many nickles would you have ..." what have you done that you'd have to answer ONE, but wish you could say, "So many, I can't count them."
