Happy Wednesday

Yesterday, I wrote, "Lately, things going on with me are too personal or too political, both of which I don't write in depth about".

I hadn't thought about that comment being taken as the personal things are negative, or difficult.

Those that know me, or have read this blog for awhile, know I usually don't write too deep into my personal life. Lord knows that could be a blog in itself. Perhaps a sitcom even.

Anyway, the personal things aren't bad ... not at all. In fact they are pretty darn good. It's just me, the way I keep my real personal things out of this blog.

Personal things reads men, dating, love life, etc.

The wishes for better days ahead and e-mails of concern are the very thing that I find so heart warming in the blog community. But ... all is good right now.

I'm starting to feel guilty for all the nice comments and e-mails, so I thought I better correct the direction of that statement.

Sure is good to know people care, and for that I thank you.

Whaaaaa? Wednesday

Another whaaaa? I didn't know that.

When I checked out of the Westin Hotel, (this past BlogHer experience) I had additional charges on my bill.

You know the little refrigerator in the rooms? Stocked with drinks, cute little bottles of booze? Chips, nuts, candy bars, etc.? Well my bill reflected I had had a food fest all weekend! There were like $60 in charges. Hu?????

I questioned at the desk and said in fact, I never took one thing from there. Sure I moved a few things around to put my water bottles in there. I picked up the booze bottles, just because they were cute. I read the labels on the nuts and trail mix before deciding against them.

I touched them.

That's why the fee. (They adjusted it off my bill.) Everything is on a sensor. Who would have thought? Each item I picked up was tallied as a purchase. I assumed housekeeping monitored the refrigerator daily, restocked when necessary, and reported items taken. Not so.

Did you know that?

Working it Wednesday

I woke up this morning and actually did some Yoga stretches and put on my Tai Chi CD and started the day with a relaxing work out.

After two days of total brain mush, I am looking forward to some good times with some good friends. Friends that I have gotten close to, yet never physically met.

Next week, I am going to meet and mingle. I am going to drink and dance. I will listen and learn. Bust most of all I will be glad to have my butt in San Francisco at the BlogHer Conference.

I wonder if the Dooce Almighty will pose with me for a picture? Heather? I promise not to try balancing things on your head for a picture.

So, I leave next Thursday from Detroit verrrrrry early, and with the 3 hour time difference, I will get into San Fran verrrrry early. Anyone else getting there before noon?

I'll have to call and see when check in time is at the hotel. Hopefully, if the room is ready, I will be able to crash and nap before the first night of partying socializing begins.

Yes, I am getting excited!

Wednesday, Weird Memory

After reading Mrs. G's post today, recounting her and a girlfriend's naive acceptance of a ride from a stranger, the goose bumps came back to a memory of mine.

I used to hitchhike. I remember once hitchhiking to Stoney Creek Park with my friend Barb. Not a care in the world about "wacko's" back in the 70's. (Duh! I lived in Oakland county, home to the famous unsolved murders by the Oakland Child Killer )

One particular time, I had spent the night at her house, we got up and headed out to a full day at Stoney. At the end of our day, she got a ride home with a friend that lived in her neighborhood. Chit, I had moved to back Royal Oak by then and it was about 20 miles away.

So there I am, probably stoned, sunburned, wearing my bathing suit asking around if anyone was going to Royal Oak. There were three guys that said they were. One said he lived at 12 mile and Campbell and in my pot induced state, I was like "Wow, cool, that's exactly where I live." And I hopped in.

It was a powder blue VW. (what's with the VW hitchhiking stories? Mrs. G and some of her commenter's were in VW's too) Me, three guys, just about sunset. What the frap was I thinking? I know, I wasn't.

We headed out of the park and towards home. But then, they decided to take dirt roads "so we could smoke pot and not be seen." Mmmm, hum. Still, I'm all "OK, sounds like a good idea to me."

The bizarre thing, that's just what we did, rode around smoking pot, laughing, and having a good ole time. We stopped for some fast food and then they dropped me off at my house. The next day I though about what I did and kinda freaked. I drove past the street he said he lived on and sure enough I found the powder blue VW parked in front of a house. Never saw any of them again.

BUT ... this ... this really FREAKS.Me.Out.

I have said before, in 1973, I stuck my thumb out on I-75 and headed to Mexico with my boyfriend. We entered Mexico via Texas.

Summer of 1973

Hitchhiking,
through rural TEXAS

Through the same area that THIS was going on.

Even though the movie is based on a true story, no chainsaws were involved. The killings and skinning of the bodies were true. Just the fact that I hitchhiked to Mexico and back kinda freaks me out when I over think it.
::: shudders :::

*** Side bar: Karin? Detroit? Bob (I think that was his name) and his VW? Gas Station? (we actually went in there!) Wig? Dead Hooker in the back lot? SCARY SHIT, eh? ***

R.I.P. Wednesday

I posted about "dog death freaky-deaky" before, here.

I have noticed when Bently is outside, just relaxing, he lays in the driveway, next to the fence, right by a tree on my neighbors property. I always assumed it was for the shade, but he's there even when it's blistering hot and the shade hasn't made it's way over to the area he's laying in.

Yesterday, when I went out into the backyard, I walked over to the fence to talk to my neighbor. I mentioned that Bently always lays there and commented that I thought he just waits for him to come out and give him some attention.

My neighbor Bill, said, no, I bet he's just keeping old Sparky company.

I said, "Hu? Who's Sparky?"

He lifted the bottom branches of the tree and there was a rock, grave marker, with "SPARKY" hand carved in it.

He told me his dog died years ago and that's where he buried him.

Odd? Or just another Co-inky-dinky?

How Was Your Morning?

It should only take me 15 minutes tops to blow dry my hair in the morning.

It usually takes 30. Why? Because I have to stop and answer the phone.

Wait, I thought I heard the phone ring. Wasn't that the phone?
No missed call. Back to drying.

Okay, THAT'S the phone now. Stop drying. Nope, it's not ringing.

I hear it again. I ignore it because I know there is no one calling me ... the phone is now on the counter in the bathroom with me.

But wait. Did I just hear the door bell?

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

I discovered just after a hot shower, when my face is all warm and steamy, I can take a charge card and scrape it along my chin and forehead and really clear out the pores. Gross I know, but it works. BTW, I'm one of those types that makes a mess of her face cleaning things up that aren't even there.

So I am doing this and I scraped a bit too much this morning, on my chin. It looked like a rug burn. A rug burn without the fun that could possibly go along with chin rug burns. Thankfully, a cold compress and face powder made it go away before I left for work.

Oh be quiet, you know you are going to try the charge card thing. Especially since it works!

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

And while I am feeling like "Rosanne Roseannadana" with my grossness.

Do you cut your nose hairs? Have you ever REALLY looked ... in a magnified mirror girl? Well, I do and have for a couple years now. And this morning, damn, I cut myself. But, at least I have no nose hair.

And I bet ya'll though I was lady like!

(I am, but just in public)

No Humping

A No Humping Wednesday

(I never liked that "hump day" thing)

So, last night after work, I talked to my boss about my co-worker Jack. Hu? You haven't read my rants about him here or here or here?

Basically he told me to just deal with it. Since he doesn't have to be around him as much as I do, and when he does Jack is on his best behavior, (SUCK UP) I am thinking my boss is just trying to keep peace. He did tell me Jack asked him why I won't talk to him. He asked the wrong person, don't you think?

So I've decided, seriously, if Jack asks me what's wrong (I don't talk to him unless it's absolutely necessary) ... I'm going to tell him. There are some things he does that I shouldn't really make public, but his disgusting other things are enough! I know it will cause a big war but I have that handled too.

I'm going to calmly tell him to go back to his desk and pour himself a nice tall glass of shut the fuck up!

I know I'll feel better.
