Date with Destiny?

I dialed.

Nancy: Hi, John? This is Nancy (last name) from high school. I hope it's OK, Sam (last name) gave me your phone number.

John: Hell yeah! How the heck are you? You're single? Right?
(scary amount of excitement in his voice)

Nancy: Umm, yes ... so you remember me?

John: I wouldn't have passed history without sitting next to you. *laughs*

Nancy: Ahhh, so you remember me for my brains?

John: *laughing* No, you had nice b**bs too.

Nancy: *** wondering if I made a mistake calling ***

Then he calmed down. We talked for about an hour. Playing catch up, on thirty five years of reminiscing, of our pasts and our today's. He asked to get together this weekend, but since I already have plans we decided on next weekend. To be continued.

Nice b**bs?!? Real classy.

Nancy said...

michael: uh-huh, I thought that too ... I gave him the benefit of doubt maybe he was nervous.

how exiciting but yeah, I think I'd be a bit reserved too.

Give the guy the benefit of the doubt...plus when you said "is that all you remember" maybe this was his way of saying "yeah, I noticed you for more than your brains"...and if it's only about the body...you'll find out when you meet!!
Very exciting!!!

Sherry: I'm sure a nervous factor played into it, and I recall he was alway so funny, but well liked by everyone. We shall see.

Wear the "Latte to go" t-shirt - even if he invites you to dinner. That way you can show off the b**bs and your sense of humor at the same time.

We (and by that I mean "me") are eagerly waiting for the next installment of "Dating Nancy"!

The "Latte to Go" shirt ... and the tiara.

Aw, c’mon Nancy, give the guy a break. You had days to prepare for this and he was caught by surprise. Besides, I’m sure every guy from high school remembers your [ahem] impressive attributes. They were teenagers, after all. In fact, I bet they still remember us as ‘Karin-the short brunette and Nancy-the blond with big boobs.’ Fact of life, but I don’t think it’s meant as an insult, do you? You're right, too, that John was considered a nice guy, so I doubt he intended to offend. Send me an e-mail with the gossip, OK? And good luck with the date next week!

I'm casting a vote for the tiara too. It should focus his attention above the shoulders :)

I think guys from high school go right back there in a part of their brain when they talk to girls from high school. I have had 4 guys I've run into at various things how much they were in love with me then (I never dated any of these guys) and how they still think about me. Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh - K.

High school is so intense, I think some of those feelings hold over for years and years. I doubt these guys would be in love with me if they were around me all the time now, *snort*.

So, yeah, I think his 17-year old self was admiring your ta-tas.

I agree the tiara idea has merit. It's soooo you ;) Gotta say I LOVE Sunshine's comment with the *snort* So funny!

When you reach a certain age, any and all nice boob comments are welcomed and appreciated. Don't ya think?

Egad, what a clutz! I finally figure out how not to be "Anonymous" anymore, then I go and post the same thing twice. Oops--sorry. Nancy, can you fix it? I don't know how...(Please tell me that "mrs. g." above isn't my mother!) :)

Good for you for calling! I'd have done a serious double-take at the boobs thing, but then again with my own lack of err, assets, I don't have much experience with that particular comment LOL.

Mary Alice said...

Nervous? Yeah, I know when I'm nervous and taken off guard by someone from the past I ALWAYS start babbling about their boobs!

Or ….if it's a man about the size of the bulge in his 501s.

Yep, that's what I always do, because I am nervous.

Seriously, that conversation doesn't leave me optimistic for you.

I love these different views. ALl with merit.

I think Sunshine hit a point, we haven't seen each other since HS, so his mind went back to how he remembered me at 17.

Karin, yep, I caught him off guard. I had an upper hand.

The rest of the conversation went much better, his funny personality, as I remember it was right there. He was quite nice.

I've said things in the past in situations where I wanted to slap my forehead and have a do-over!

I'll post again after we meet up.

I just asked my mom about John. She said I've met him before, but if I did, I don't remember who he is. But let's say you meet, fall madly in love, and run off to get married...well, all I can say is it's a shame about the last name. LOL :o)

Sunshine said...

There's a new doc at our local clinic called Dr. Dickman. My mind is racing as to the ludicrousness of the name in question.

Nancy said...

Michael: Don't worry about the name, it ain't-a-gonna-happen!

Sunshine: Dose he perform vasectomy's?

Let me know how it goes. He will be wondering what happened to all the b**bs. Tell him they vanished when the fanny vanished.

linda said...

Oooh...nice b...bs. Well, that is a kind of nice memory for a guy to have about a girl. Innocence and lewdness wrapped in one. He will see you as you were, despite that fact you are older. There is such a bond with school friends that surpasses the process of getting older. Worth a revisit....

Casdok said...

Cant wait for the next instalment!!

Nancy said...

Linda: "Innocence and lewdness wrapped in one"

I think you explain it nice, his "speaking before thinking because he was thinking", lol

and...

"He will see you as you were, despite that fact you are older"

That's quite true, the occasional classmate I have run into over the years, seemed the same in my eyes, looking beyond the normal aging process.

His memory odd yes, but the as you said ('scary amount of exciment in his voice'), after saying ''you're single? Right?'' How'd he know that? Same source you have?
Ok get a background check 'ASAP'!!

Nancy said...

lis: I suppose since I initiated contacting him, he'd figure I was single. And yes, the guy that gave me his # may have given him a heads up that I had asked about him.

Loved all the above comments. Such a range of opinions. But most are excited for you and can't wait for the next installment .. count in me on that group.

I don't know what you were like in HS but if it's anything like you are today he can't help but "like" you. Have fun next weekend!

I could never imagine meeting one of my old boyfriends after all these years. I see a lot of baldness potential.
