"She's Got Bette Davis Eyes"

NOT!!!

More like Uncle Fester

The upside ... I have now lost a total of 26 pounds. The last two pounds took a little longer to va-moose. I wasn't gaining at all, just staying the same. I was getting a little bit pissy about it and va-walla, I am down the two.

There has been some changes. Yes, I am in a smaller pant, top, bra, even undie size, but something else is happening.

I have always, even as a young kid, had dark circles under my eyes. I refer to them as the "Uncle Fester" look, or the "heroin addict hasn't had a fix today" look. Over the years, I have been able to conceal them with make-up.
Make-up is not working.

I keep looking at my eyes wondering WTF? Is it because my face has lost weight too, that they are really prominent? Could it be part of the "over fifty" thingy that I constantly refer to?

If I have to go around looking like a member of the Addams Family, why can't I be Morticia?

Do you have any pearls of wisdom on how to lighten or conceal this look? I would certainly appreciate any advice.

I have them too and I hate them. Even concealer doesn't work that great but I'm not a makeup person anyway so I live with it. Do you have allergies? My son does and he has them bad, his pediatrician says when he's having a hard time that's an easy way to tell. I think mine are mostly lack of sleep (I never seem to get enough!). If you figure out a solution let me know!

oh and congratulations on the weight loss. I so need to lose some weight. How have you done it?

terri: I don't have allergies and no problem sleeping, usually 8-9 hours of uninterrupted sleep. I have tried throughout the years many concealers and usually can cover it up with a combination of a couple concealers. Check back and see if anyone has a solution for us =)

I am following weight watchers ... I don't cheat, I have been a yo-yo dieter my whole life and finally learned this one is the way to go!

Congrats on the weight loss. I'll bet your eyes look better than you think they do.

YAY!! for losing all that weight!

I have the dark circles too. It's worse when I lose weight too. Strange.

I've seen this stuff at CVS that is supposed to lighten them. I don't know if it works, but I've been tempted to buy the stuff and try it. Just never have because I'm skeptical. I use that yellow concealer stick from Cover Girl. It usually helps.

I'm all about a solution to this cause I have the same problem. I'm curious to see what you find out.

I heard with plastic surgery they take fat from one area and inject it by the eye so the skin in that area isn't so thin and the blood vessels don't show through. Hmmm...maybe I can kill two birds with one stone.

you lost the weight with weight watchers? Great job!!

Now on to the dark circle problem...

the more drastic solution is to use fillers like Restylane & Juvederm they plump up the area under the eye and then you can't see the circles. I've been thinking about doing this myself.

Meanwhile the less drastic solution is to use one of the following two products - Benefit Boi-ing http://www.amazon.com/Benefit-Cosmetics-Boi-ing/dp/B00021AIFE
it's good and easy to use but

also my favorite product is Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder. It's a little more money but well worth it, you only use the littlest bit of powder and it makes a huge difference - one little jar will last you a very long time.

www.amazon.com/Laura-Mercier-Secret-Brightening-Powder/dp/B000CONG7I

treat yourself to a trip to a department store that has a Laura Mercier counter and have the salesperson try it out on you. (I use color No. 1)

Congrats on your hard work paying off.

And man, I feel for you on the dark-circle front; I've battled them my entire life; I have circles under my eyes when I'm NOT tired, and look like death warmed over when I do.

I'm checking into those advices you got!

Thanks for the weight loss encouragement everyone =)

Patience and Michael : Surgery would be a good idea, if I could afford it, not am option right now.

TC : You should see them in real life, YIKES

Dixie: I have used that also, as a base to about 3 others I apply over it, lol

Mary: I should have know you'd have a couple suggestions, THANKS. I still use and like the no. 7 mascara you recommended. I am going to check out what you have listed here.

Lori: I'll let you know how they work and if you try something, please let me know =)

Anyone else? Feel free to give a suggestion, I will continue to try anything to find something that works.

Congrats on the poundage, and I hate that baggy eye thing too, but mine is usually associated with lack of sleep, which is often!
Maybe I'll get some good tips from your readers!

I got the same issues. I have circles and my face is kinda drawn in.

Pink said...

wow...i've gained and lost and gained a little again but I never noticed a difference in dark circles when I was thinner.

you might want to try an acupunturist. i seem to recal that dark circles are a sign of too much dampness - the acupunturist can alter your diet a little and release some of that dampness.

Good luck and way to go girlie! Its a lot of work, I know it!

Sunshine: I recall sleeping is hard when they are little ... their down time was my time to catch up with everything, 'cept sleep.

Joan: Down side to us losing weight, eh? I'll work on hiding the dark circles and be glad the weight is coming off.

Pink: Someone at work just told me today to try water pills, you may be right about the diet, I drink over 84oz a day.
