Conversation Hearts: That's My Girl

I posted a couple weeks ago that I was going to participate in this weekly photo project. I have submitted photos for the past two weeks. It's been interesting to see what other people post. This weeks theme is plastic.

I thought about it a couple days and took this picture of my cupboard. I decided it was too unimaginative, so I scratched that idea.

Last night I took this photo. I was thinking it a step further, she is made of plastic and if she were a real person, Barbie would be the ultimate plastic woman, far surpassing even Posh.

I decided it wouldn't be perceived like that without explanation, so I scratched that idea too.

Although I have a week to submit a photo, it was bothering me that something so simple was becoming obsessively difficult for me.

Enter Caitlin:

Me: Hey Cait

Cait: Hi Mom

Me: Cait, when I say plastic, what is the first thing that comes to your mind?

Cait: Charge cards ... hey, want to go to the mall?

I submitted this, a combination of what we had in our wallets.

Hey, I can't see any numbers! How can I steal your identity if you won't show me any numbers? Some people are so inconsiderate.

Dixie: See those 2 Kohls cards ... I know you like Kohls too =)

Jami: Forgive me, a random "toss" of the cards and no numbers showing? What are the chances of that? *wink*

Crap...we have WAYYYYYY too much plastic (in the form of credit cards) at Palace Peanut. And just GUESS which one of us uses them all the time. Yes, The PK!!!! Grrrr....

Stacy: I only charge what I can pay by the time the statement comes. Usually I don't charge at all. So far, fingers crossed, Cait has listened to me and charges only what she can payoff each month too.

I could have used some sound advice like that before I went to college. I'm still paying off those debts when I get a little money. Now I only use my credit card for certain things. And I never carry a balance for more than 200, because I pay the minimum off at least each month. Typically I only have about 10 bucks a months, though. I use it when I can't use the bank card for whatever reason. Hey, I learned from my mistake, a little anyway.

Bravo! I love that photograph game, and your plastic is PERFECT--doh! Why didn't I think of it?!

I'll do mine tonight then. (Hate it when I get my photo done, but forget to submit!)

Whoa, that's a lot of plastic! I only have one credit card of my own, a debit card, and my corporate card, which would be more fun if I could charge everything to that.

Jess: Sounds like you learned =)

TC : Thanks, it is a fun photo project too

GnG: Actually I wondered the same about your last week, energy ... I need that cup every morning. Your's was a great photo.

Teri: join in, it is fun

Michael: Some of the doubles were just renewed cards I hadn't cut up. Cait, on the other hand, has the VS, Kohls, and Express. After the pic, we figured out which were the newest and destroyed the old. So far, she's hasn't gone wild with them.

I learned, but my credit scores are trashed now. I'm thinking the lesson wasn't worth the price. I'd rather have better credit scores and a lot of delinquent payments off my records. And for my godmom and dad to not be out about 3 grand paying for my mistakes. A very shaming fact, that.

Good choice. That's a lot of plastic. Almost as much as Barbie. ;)

Doesn't that photo represent so much of America. Good for you Nancy on teaching responsibility. With the ex I ended up way in debt. Now for two years I have been hooked on Dave Ramsey (google him) and his book Financial Peace. I don't own one credit card AND I only use my debit card. I am so much more happy!!!!

Nancy,

I'm with Jami. I was all set to buy myself something pretty and you screwed me right out of it. What the hell, chick???

Nancy said...

lorelia: Yeah, I just use my debit card, credit on a rare occasion. I think we have all "done that" ... charged too much and had to learn to hold back.

Sher:dang it ... well here I will just post it for you:

OK, hun, you and Jami go have fun! Buy me something too!
