So Then ....

Last Thursday (oh mah holy hell, I haven't posted in a looooong time) at the last minute, Don got Detroit Tiger tickets from his boss. It was a day game so we made the best of our day in Detroit, since the Tigers SUCKED the wind out of the game in the third inning.

Thanks Brandon Inge for doing your part!

So then ...

We walked back to our super cool parking space ascloseasthis to Comerica Park, (never have recieving a parking ticket there before) .... only to find a $30 frickin' ticket. Yes, that's my Black G-6 the one with the ticket on it!.

So then ...

In my Nancy way, I took a buncha pics showing there is no warnings about parking and I'll send them in with my $30 check.

So then ...

We headed over to Tiger Stadium, the historical, original home of the Detroit Tigers as I have know it all my life. It's being demolished, destroyed, pulverized, even though it could be developed into a landmark park / ball fields for kids to play in. Nope a big ugly vacant parcel of land is just what Detroit has decided it should be. George Clooney saved it for a couple days by requesting a film crew be able to use it. Of cour$e Detroit $aid $ure.

So then ...

We headed to the Better Made Potato Chip factory on Gratiot because ... hell why not? Neither of us had been there and Don has been jonesing for chips. We got a quick shot of the chips coming off the conveyor belt ...

... then decided to take a pic in front of the building and its sign.

Just as I posed and Don took aim,
Momma and her kids pulled up, right in front of me.
She couldn't care less that we were trying to be all touristy and take a pic.

So then ...

We decided to go fishing.
When we got back to Don's house,
his son Cheyne and Cheyne's friend Rich were waiting for us.

Fishing, always a great way to end the day.

Cheyne and Rich serenading (?) with "I'm On A Boat" ... poses included,

... a few perch caught, (TYVM Cheyne) ... a perfect sunset,

... and a beautiful moon to call it a night.

So then ...

This weekend ... to be continued.

Best Part of a 3 Day Weekend ...

... the following week is only a four day work week.

Update in bullets (and a bunch of photos):

(As always, for you Sunshine, a fan of bullets.)

  • Ree (you Hotfessional) and I are excited about BlogHer coming up. She and I are sharing a room and that's about all we'll say. What happens in Chicago stays in Chicago. (Unless it can fit in a carry-on. )
  • My Memorial Day weekend ... no surprise here.

Don was the only one to catch a walleye all weekend.

I really DO fish, that's my rod.

"Hey Don, take a picture of me fishing for my blog please."

Mmhumm, I fish in the blur.
(Yes jeans from head to toe, it was a cool crisp morning.)

Don fishes and naps, such a multi-tasker.

Steve and Mary

Ummm, N and D

Captain Don and Captain Steve

Just before sunset.

::: Blowing Dust off Blog:::

I think Ree is feeling sorry for this abandoned blog. She's having me blow the dust off and do this meme that's been going around. Thanks Ree ... I think!

The latest meme making the rounds goes like this:
  • Respond to and rework the meme.

Why is is called SUNday?

Wrapping up the weekend :

Happy Birthday Karin!
39th isn't it?
Yep, I though so.

I googled for "sexy man holding birthday cake"
but when this came up I though, "Whoa, who needs cake?"

Feel free to take up a collection to send me and The Hotfessional to warmer climate. The Bahamas would be just fine.
We, here in Michigan, are having a joyous (as in Oh F'ing Joy)
freezing spell with a huge helping of snow.

I ventured out to the grocery store,
just a mile from my house, in this crap:

::: Cheers :::

Last night I met her and her for drinks dinner. We were celebrating Ree's recent retirement. Actually, if you read her blog, the retirement wasn't quite her choice. I say it's just a new door opening for her next adventure.

Ree, The Hotfessional, picked a great place for us to meet in the local college town of the Michigan Wolverines. While waiting in line to get into a parking lot, I spied in my rear view mirror, The Hotness herself, pulling right up behind me. Perfect timing.

Ree and I walked into the pub with that "wonder if anyone else is here yet" look all over our faces as we stretched our necks, looking over bar tops, tables and into booths. The pub is a series of doorways, leading to other bars/rooms. Since we were the first to arrive, we picked our table and sat our butts down.

The waiter came by with a puzzled look and asked if the hostess left us menus. Oops! We were supposed to check in at the hostess station, get a "vibrator" and wait our turn for our buzz.

Fast thinking Ree, "Uh, she was pretty busy, must have forgot the menus."

^5 Ree, thanks ... I don't really like waiting, I'm a snob like that.

Mommy's Martini showed up shortly after.

We sat there and talked about you, and you, oh and you too. But all in a good way! Singing praises to favorite bloggers and dissing some programs that put glitches in our attempts to pimp our sites.

Good food, good beer and wine, good times. I look forward to doing it again.

Lucky Cats

Last night I met Ree, The Hotfessional and MommyTime, Mommy's Martini at P.F. Changs for dinner.

Since Ree and I got there before MommyTime, we ordered appetizers.

Lucky Cat Martini's (that's considered an appetizer, right?)

We shared wonderful dishes of chicken and steak, but more so the conversation.

If there are any Michigan bloggers that would like to meet on a regular basis for dinners, we'd love to establish a Michigan Blogger group.

The Lucky Cat Martini

Technique: Shake and Strain
Ingredients: Smirnoff Vanilla Vodka 2 oz.
Pineapple Juice 1 oz
Chambord 0.5 oz, sink in center of glass
Garnish: A wedge of fresh pineapple speared on a toothpick with a pineapple leaf .

Play it Again Sam

I'll be in San Fransisco Thursday through Sunday. I'm returning on the red-eye Sunday night, arriving in Detroit at 5:10 A phucking M. I anticipate 4 days of enough fun to compensate for the crash and burn I will have on Monday.

Oh wait ... Monday, I'm meeting Ree and Sunshine for the first time, in Lansing MI for dinner. It's only an hour and 45 minute drive from my house. Girls? I may pull a dine and dash, unless I get a nap during the day. Then again, I could just drink Red Bull martinis.

So while I'm away, four of my favorite "reads" have agreed to guest post. I asked them to pilfer through their underwear drawer archives and repost one of their own favorites.

Be sure to check back over the next few days and see their fave's they liked enough to "play it again".

Thursday ..... Ree from My Life As a Hotfessional
Friday.......... Delmer from What's a Delmer Look Like
Saturday ..... Joan from Southern Suburbia
Sunday ....... Michael from Captain Obvious

Thank you guys!

*The real line, that has been forever misquoted from Casablanca is:
" Play it Sam, play as time goes by."
