So if I understand correctly, famous photographer Annie Leibovitz, took a series of photos to be used in Vanity Fair Magazine of Miley Cyrus. Miley's parents, aunt and other adults were all at the photo shoot. The digital photos were looked at by all as they were being taken.
Now, Miley feels embarrassed and tricked by Annie into posing for shots like this:
But Miley feels perfectly okay posting shots on her myspace taken by her friends of her posing like this:
I don't like any of those shots, she's just 15 years old. Also, I feel the creepy factor about her posing like this with her dad:

She's a 15 yr old kid. The adults responsible for her were present. Methinks the lady doth protest too much.
I think Disney had a bigger impact in all of this because of her image as Hannah Montana. They don't want another Jamie Lynn Spears on their hands.
In some ways, I wonder if it's even possible to have a wholesome role model for girls anymore. If there are any left, the news outlets do nothing to highlight them, they only point to all the usual tramps time after time. It's tiresome. I hope my girls pay no attention to any of it, right now they're too little and don't know much about pop culture.
Pretty much, I think most of it stinks. Miley should probably lay low and chill for awhile, be quiet and let the picture go away, don't fan the flames.
Yuck on the Dad one. For real.
HAL-LAY-LOO-YA!!!!!
Why is she so upset about these? and her parents were right there with her! They're just trying to cover their asses and save their little meal ticket from getting axed at disney.
It was only a matter of time.....creepy is right.
yeah...I was wondering about those MySpace pictures too...puh-lease...Annie Leibovitz is one of THE best photographers ever...wonder what she thinks about all this!
Billy Ray has succeeded once again to weird me out.
Okydoke. Just, okydoke.
I think homegirl needs to eat some hamburgers. and i've always found billy ray to be creepy and kinda hanging on to her fame. yuck!
I'm not sure what to think, really. Photo shoots go zip-zip, hundreds of photos get taken, and a select few end up being used. Annie L. is a reknowned photographer, and even though she took the shots, she's not the editor of the magazine that chose which to use. I can see a scenario of "let's try this" and the results end up being not what you would have wanted. As to the My Space (or whatever it's called) shots, don't forget she's 15, and 15 year olds are notoriously flaky. The overall scuttlebutt of Miley and her family that I've read is that they're pretty normal. I hate to base my entire opinion on just this one photo shoot. As for Billy Ray, I'm hoping he's just a proud dad, and not really creepy.
I'm with you on the creep-factor of the poses with her dad. Ick; they've given me heebie jeebies since they were released.
I don't think anyone is saying anything about the Annie L shoot... I think the what's not sitting right with people is that she is saying she's embarrassed by it and feels tricked when she's posted images that are no better, and maybe even worse, on her own myspace page that she is responsible for. That's just a tad conflicting isn't it Karin?
I think they got caught because Disney probably doesn't like the images because of the whole Hannah Montana thing just like the previous poster said. Let's also not forget that this is what 15 year old girls in the lime light do... we've watched it over and over.. Britney, Lindsay, Christina... they all started pushing the edge at about the same age.
I think everyone involved knew darn well what they were doing. PR baby.
Hmmm none of this makes much sense to me. I find myself feeling glad that I don't have a daughter, though- that much I know. And yes, the father/daughter stuff is absolutely creepy. I thought that the Billy/Miley team was weird even before I saw these risque photos!
Hugs,
Betty
'ditto' on the creepy shot's with daddy dearest... ewww!!!
Where is her mom in all this??
There is something seriously wrong with the media today. The reality is that girls of this age do pose like this on their facebook pages, msn, my space and think it's "cool". They've learned this from the media, they've learned this from one another and they have so much technology that wasn't available before so we are being flooded with it.
I think the Annie L photo is much more sophisticated and mature than the ones the girl has taken herself. If Disney has a problem with these professional photographs, what do they say about her my space??
The bottom line is, no girl, no child of 15 should be posing like this period.
I heard an interesting interview with some pundit about these things yesterday, saying that this is actually a smart move by her. She's 15, yes, but someday soon she's not going to be 15 anymore, and she needs to start turning people's opinions of her toward a more adult nature if she wants to have a career beyond Hannah Montana. That man also said, and I can't disagree, that 7 year olds don't read Vanity Fair and it wasn't intended for them.
I'm not sure where I fall, but I recognize the validity of both arguments.
from what I understand, Billy Ray was there for most of the photo shoot but he had to leave early due to another engagement. These shots were taken after he left and he is saying that he wouldn't have allowed them to be taken if he had been there.
annie l. is an amazing photographer and it is not her fault that these pics wound up in the mag. miley's parent gave their consent to every pic taken. i don't think a 15 yaer old girl should pose like that! it is a fantastic photo in value... but she's only 15 people!!!! although, miley is being rather contradictory about the photo, seeing as though she's posing in her underwear and exposing her bra. i would NEVER post photos like that on myspace or facebook... and i'm 17!!
sorry to be so harsh, but i think she's a tramp and needs to be straightened out. the only reason she's "ashamed" about this incident is because disney is upset and she and her dad were worried about their jobs. that's the bottom line.
it's all disgusting!
yea i agree she needs to be straighten out. to be completly honest these pictures i think are under influence of someone or sometheing. her parents should be there every single photoshot, interview, myspace blog, everything! my daughter is 17 nd i am always checking her pictures nd friends and everything because in a worls like this with all these demented people any parent who cares for their child would look out for them. and she is emmbarssed because of how much trouble shes faing now nd to tell you the truth, i personally think that the underwear picture, they bra picture, and they belly/boy picture were all taken herself. and as for annie l. I really do not think that it is completly her fault but she does have a part in it beacuse as a photographer you need to know what your client is getting into and you should know yourslef what your getting into. and billy ray is getting a horrible image off of this.
