PLAY BALL !

It is opening day here in Detroit and our champion Tigers had a beautiful, almost perfect day weather wise, to begin what is sure to be a winning season.

I have always been a Tiger's fan, even when they weren't the most popular team in baseball. Obviously last year, the team proved to be worthy of the World Series but, as far as I am concerned, they are always winners. This Wednesday before the game, they will get their rings.

No, I didn't go to the game (*pout*pout*pout* Deb,I didn't know you had a line on tickets) but I watched it at work. For sure I will be going to as many games as I can this summer.

I love the several huge tigers around the park. They are posed as if prowling around, guarding the premises. The fifteen foot Tiger with his paw up in a swiping motion that greets people in the front entrance, has proved to be a favorite for taking photos with.

So with the game tied in the 9th, 3-3, we entered overtime only to lose Toronto 5 Tigers 3. It's OK, I love how they send false security to the other teams early in the season *wink*

I weent to the first everBlue Jays game and it was against Detroit...
Can not remember if we won... But I do know it snowed... and boy was it so very cold on the metal bleachers...
But it made my heart warm to hear that Toronto won in Detroit! as it brought the chill of my dad's dedication to sitting through the entire game back to me...
; )

It must have been at the old "Tiger Stadium" if you were on metal bleachers. Although I want the Tigers to win every game, I'm glad their loss brought a good memory back for you =)

Opening day is always special.

I hold a special place in my heart for the Tigers (this despite being a dyed-in-the-wool Dodgers fan), because one of my childhood heros played for them, Norm Cash.

I remember 1968 like it was yesterday (back in those days you were allowed to duck classes to go watch the World Series) and rooting for the Tigers to kill the Dodger's (and mine) dreaded rival, the St Loius Cardinals...

I digress.

Anyway, Opening Day is special, hopefully when the Dodger home opener occurs, they'll win in--but so far we're not looking to good.

Good luck, maybe we'll see each other at the World Series this year.
