Don has been out there ice fishing for the past few weeks. He's been having fun catching an average 75 perch each time out. Okay, so most of them aren't keepers ... but the fun of the sport is still enjoyed.
Most of you know how I dislike cold, damp winters, so ice fishing wasn't ever on my radar. With Don's daily fishing reports, I kept getting the urge to get out and fish.
Saturday, I put on my jeans, a t-shirt, sweater, hoodie, hat, scarf, 3 pairs of socks, Don's ski pants, Don's ski jacket, 3 pairs of gloves ... and we headed out.
I could weigh anywhere from 100-200 lbs.,
who'd know the difference in this get-up?
who'd know the difference in this get-up?
The lake just doesn't look the same with shanties, four-wheelers, and snowmobiles.
We moved from hole to hole [insert smirk here] and after a couple hours, I caught this one perch. Nancy 1 Don zero.
I guess it wasn't our day to fish or after Don's daily catches, they fear him. ;)

The man loves fishing -- obsessed perhaps?!?
But you?!!? Out there looking like the Michelin man?!?! Honey it MUST be love -- either for him or for fishing or for both.
You look so darn cute!!! xo
Bwa ha ha ha ha! You two are so sexy!
You look cute all bundled up!
I can see if you were a native american shivering in the cold and dying of hunger, that you could go ice fishing. But to do it 'recreationally'.......I sort of think is the height of lunacy. Besides, you look like the Michalin Man dressed up in that 'heat suit'.
okay...so you know i love ya more than my luggage, right?
well, i'm also loving the pictures (agree with the Michelin Man comments, also with the "but you're so cute" ones too)but, really....that last one of Dandy Don? yeah...with the ice hammer and the bucket of Lord only knows what...he looks like an extra from the movie Fargo.
:-)
personally...you're both pretty damn cute, but...me thinks a bad bit nutters!! :-)
Good for you. We are much further south but it reminds me of my get up for late November and December football games and why we are going to Florida over spring break.
I haven't visited your blog for a while but I am glad I came by today. I went ice fishing once when I was young and all I can remember is sitting in a little house holding a stick over a hole in the ice freezing my butt off. Everyone kept telling me how much fun it was. But I disagreed.
Love your blog especially those crazy adds from the fifties. Do you watch Mad Men? Great show about the guys who dreamed up those darned adds.
And I too blog and sometimes I wonder why I do it but it seems to keep me sane. So I understand. Keep it up!
