Nana

"Grandchildren are God's way of compensating us for growing old"

If you follow me on FaceBook, you may already know I am excited about becoming a "Nana".

I decided being called Grandma was not as whimsical or gingerbread scented as Nana. "Grandma" reeks of Vick's vapor rub, bright red nail polish, and perfume that enters the room before Grandma herself and stays long after she leaves.

I just found out 2 weeks ago that my first grandchild is a girl. The damage she has done to my checkbook already ... warms my heart.

I'll update as much as her mommy and daddy give me permission to.

A New Butterfly

I didn't really know her.

I know the young man that loves her. He is my nephew.

They've been friends since their early teens. That friendship grew into a young love. A love with promise and hope. A love that nourished dreams for future possibilities.

Possibilities ended with an auto accident last Friday. Although she was taken away from him on that day, the memories and time he spend with her will live forever.

She only had 21 years here on Earth, but her energy lives on and will be felt for eternity.

Matt, you are young and I am so sorry you are experiencing such a tragic pain. Rejoice in your memories and feel blessed to have shared the love you two had together. Keep a special place in your heart for her.

You are young and you have many friends and family that will help you in the coming days to once again see all the possibilities your future holds for you. I love you Matt.

"What the caterpillar calls the end of the world the master calls a butterfly." ~Richard Bach

I will think of her every time I see a butterfly.

*She had just changed her FaceBook profile photo the day before to the one of her above ... I find it hauntingly beautiful.
