::: Blowing Dust off Blog:::

I think Ree is feeling sorry for this abandoned blog. She's having me blow the dust off and do this meme that's been going around. Thanks Ree ... I think!

Nancy likes to.....

Ree, The Hotfessional, tagged me for this bazaar google game on Facebook, but my oh my it was so funny/goofy/true (kinda) ... I had to post it.

Rules:
Google Game: Go to Google and type in quotation marks your name and then "likes to" (ex. "Steve likes to"). Type in the first ten things that come up and repost in your own note.

1. Nancy likes to fook with me. (Who's this me character?)

2. Nancy likes to watch Deal or No Deal while she's having sex. (This is funnier than you think, and no, we won't go there)

3. Nancy likes to shop's professional profile on LinkedIn. (Oh, you can't call it trolling on LinkenIn? It's now shopping?)

4. Nancy likes to knit. (Ummm, no)

5. Nancy likes to golf? (Ummmm, sure, meet me at the 19th hole)

6. Nancy likes to do her own thing. (I'll do other's things too, but not on the first date)

7. Nancy likes to indulge in her hobbies of science fiction art.(Indulge in the arts of Ben & Jerry's maybe)

8. Nancy likes to kick butt, and then humiliate the female by stepping on her face. (I think that's called role play)

9. Nancy likes to accessorize herself with sparkles and glitter.(And tiara's)

10.Nancy likes to daydream and is apt to have many wishes and illusions that rarely have a chance to materialize. (Maybe I need to lower my expectations)

I went right down the line. These were the first 10 ... unbelievable!

If you decide to do this, please let me know so I can read it.

10 Things, Honest Scrap

Robin, from Around the Island, sent (and tagged) me the Honest Scrap Award.

Before passing it on, I'm to list 10 truthful facts about myself.

Sounds pretty loose ended, so here goes. I'll try not to repeat things from previous meme's.

1. I can't sing, unless off-key counts.

2. In the very early 70's (K? do you remember the year?) Karin and I sat on stage at a Leon Russell concert at Cobo Hall and thought we were bad asses for doing so. Now, annually, Leon plays at a small venue in Ferndale Michigan, The Magic Bag. It's like being in a corner bar, a nasty corner bar, a corner bar I'd rather not sit in.

3. I never went to a prom or homecoming dance.

4. I'd donate a kidney if it would help someone. Especially my brother.

5. I can't help but to peek when everyone bows their head in prayer. I like to make eye contact and smirk at the other "peekers".

6. I like the "classic" Aretha Franklin. I did not like the hat she wore to the inauguration yesterday. I did not like her voice. And I did not like how she sang the first line of "My Country, Tis of Thee", placing a break in the wording ... "My count try tis of thee...." Maybe it's my 12 year old boy mind that kicked in, but I didn't like it.

7. I tend to lead when slow dancing. Don is going to break me of that habit, right Don?

8. I like granny smith apple slices dipped in warm, gooey brie.

9. My father took his own life, 29 years ago . (Betcha didn't see that one coming.)

10. I believe there are more good people in my life than probably really are.

There you have it. I'm supposed to tag it on, but I think I'll just say grab the award and spill 10 things if you feel like purging. Let me know if you do so I can come by and read your post.

Meme, Dooce, BlogHer, Stuff n Junk

Ree, my favorite Hotfessional, (I think this word should be added to the Urban Dictionary) tagged me with this meme:

It’s the picture meme, and here are the rules:

* Go to your Sixth Picture Folder then pick your Sixth Picture.
* Pray that you remember the details.
* Tag Six others. (really it said tag 5, but huh? I see a 6 theme here, so I changed it)

So here is my photo, from BlogHer 2008 San Francisco:

I explained to Heather, Dooce, that my boss has seen the "Daily Chuck" photos and bet me that I couldn't get Heather to pose ala Chuck with something on her head. She graciously played along. Not quite prepared for the yes answer, I didn't have anything corny to put on her head. When I handed her my sunglasses, she said "I'll place them upside down so he doesn't think it's just a photo with my own sunglasses on my head." She's nice like that.

Oh yea, she's pregnant. She just announced on her site that her baby is due June 14th. Congratulations!

Speaking of Ree, The Hotfessional and BlogHer ... yep, we're going to be drinking buddies roommates in Chicago for Blogher 2009.

Now for tagging:

Jenny On The Spot

Blind As A Bat Beth

Whirling Betty

Captain Obvious ('cuz I know you have so much spare time, lol)

Fightin' Mad Mary (I know you don't do meme's, but you have fun photos)

So yeah, I went for the gaping mouth, head shaking, smirky, finger wagging, reaction.

Or did I?

Some are truthful answers. [wink]

I won't tag anyone.

If you decide to do the meme, just leave a comment so I can read yours.

... and I'm Never Going Back to My Old School*

I saw Ginger's year book photos and I decided to give it a try. After you poke fun of me and get a good laugh, go to "yearbook yourself". Let me know if you do, so I can come over and laugh hysterically compliment how great your photos look. The photos to choose from are 1950 - 2000.

So here I am class of 1960, 1966, 1990
and my real senior picture, 1973 *gasp*

Combo Platter

Message In a Bottle

If you want to leave a virtual message in a bottle, for all of time, check out this site. I sent one.

I saw this 123 Page meme on Canned Laughter and decided to do it.

Grab the nearest book.
Open the book to page 123.
Find the 5th sentence.

Post the text of the sentence in your journal along with these instructions.
Don't search around and look for the coolest book you can find. Do what's actually next to you.

I propped myself up on an elbow and rubbed my eyes.

Tomorrow morning, Quinn goes in for a teeth cleaning. Thank you Jebus! He is almost 11 and I have never had them cleaned. Probably because he's never had bad breath ... until now.

I'm going out tonight with my friends Debbie and Pam. Pam has a birthday, this year. She was born leap year, so every four years she celebrates ... the biotch, never ages. Here we are in the 80's. Pam was rockin' the bug eye look and I had some Farrah hair going on.

"Hey Now, Your a Rock Star ...

... get your game on, go play" [Smash Mouth]

Sunshine at and the pursuit of happiness, posted a meme that I've seen before, and have wanted to do.

Through a random search, you come up with your bands name, the title of your album and the album cover photo.

The rule's are, you can't keep refreshing the link ... work with what you get. BUT, I am going to be honest here. My album cover is the second time I clicked on the link. If I would have used the first photo, you would have thought I searched it out on purpose. Let's just say it had black leather, skin, and perfectly tied sailor's knots.

Let’s make a band:

1. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random The first article title is the name of your band.

2. http://www.quotationspage.com/random.php3 The last four words of the very last quote is the title of your album.

3. http://www.flickr.com/explore/interesting/7days/ The third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.

Now take your photo, add the band name and title to it, then post it.

And the Grammy goes to ......

Go check out Sunshine's band "Netzach" and if you make one, please link to me so I can see it.

A Meme Rerun

Carrie Sue from Carrie & the Koehmstedts and Jan (her mom) from The Prytz Family both tagged me for this meme ... on the same day. Those two are just in sync with each others thoughts. I just did this one, but I'll give it another shot. Especially because I was cracking up over Carrie's #7 in her meme. Go read it, I'll wait.

The tag rules are:
1) Link to the person who tagged you.
2) Post the rules on your blog.
3) Share 7 facts about yourself.
4) Tag 7 random people and include links to their blogs.
5) Let each person know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

2. Frito's Scoops and Win Schuler's Bar Cheese are my crack.
I hadn't had any in over 4 years, until last night. I ate it all in one sitting. That should do me for another 4 years. *Burping Frito breath*

4. I only get french manicures ... never a color polish.

7. This is for you Carrie and Jan. (If you didn't read Carrie's #7 ... better go read it)

If you haven't done this meme yet, I tag you. =)

Tree up? Nope

Baking? What's that?

Still sick? Yes, and still mad about it.

But, the lovely, and I mean that in a visual and a heart felt way, Ev, from My Life is Murphy's Law, has tagged me.

I have been behind in reading blogs because I feel like sh*t. I just go home after work, curl up in the fetal position, whine and complain until I realize there is nobody there to hear me. 'cept maybe Quinn, but he's getting to be a bigger whiner in his old age than me.

When I looked back at her posts I have missed, I am ashamed to see she gave me some blog bling I missed. That will teach me to miss a day of reading *smiles* Thank you Ev.

A meme and a nono

Sherry from Sage and Thyme tagged me for this meme. Sounded easy enough, but now I am wishing my middle name was Ann. This tag involves taking your middle name and coming up with something that is relevant to you for each letter.

M ~ Middle child, with the syndrome to go along with it.
A ~ Anal, I am so anal, I even wish it wasn't associated with asses.
R ~ Rebel, I've been one my whole life. I hope I never change.
I ~ Inspired, by people I have encountered through blogging.
E ~ Enigma, even to myself.

Since there are 5 letters in my name, I am supposed to tag five more to do the meme.

Carrie
Ron
Linda
Joan
Terri

My P.S.A for the day:

NO. NO. NO. NO. NO. NO !

You have been warned. DO NOT buy this ... it is pure poison!

TurkeyHill Raspberry Duetto

Poison like I have never tasted before. So odd, I keep going back for another taste, and another, and another, and I am just leaving my spoon in the carton, because I have used all the spoons in the drawer. I may have to buy another carton, just to keep trying to figure out why they would put such poison in our grocers freezers.

Best Nights of My Life

The lovely Ev at My Life Is Murphy's Law, tagged me for an interesting meme.

I am supposed to write about five of the best nights of my life. This one was harder than I thought it would be. Not that I have had so many great nights, it's more about defining great memories.

1) I loved all the summer nights when I was under 10 years old. Playing outside with the neighborhood kids. The days when we all played tag, hid-n-seek, red light / green light on someones front lawn. The 'skeeter bites. Swimming in the pool at night, the water was so warm, you didn't want to get out. Making tents out of blankets to sleep outside. Yeah, those are some favorite nights.

2) During my early 20's, my cousin Cyndi and I became roommates. We were both in full tilt party mode. We had a favorite club on the lake we called our own. It was back in the early 80's and this club had a line each night like a quasi Studio 54 where the doorman would pick and choose who could enter or not. Cyndi and I would show up after 10 and walk straight up to the front door. We'd enter the packed wall to wall club and proceed right to the bar. There would be our two seats reserved for us with drinks waiting. We thought we were the sh*ts and ya know what, we were! We would never get "picked up", never got drunk, was always the life of the party and every night went out on someone's yacht or huge boat and partied until the sun came up. We'd haul as*es home, shower, go to work, come home, sleep until 8PM , get up and do it all over again. Yes, those were some wicked fun nights!

3) Before I had my kids, their dad played full time in a band. Every summer the band booked two weeks at a rock bar on Mackinac Island. Those nights were some of the best partying nights I can remember.

My favorite story to tell is one night in particular. My sister and her husband had come up to spend a few nights. It was after the band was done playing and we all were relaxing in a room at the club. Someone had cut a few lines of coke *gasp* onto the lid of the player piano in the room. My sister Sandi, innocent as can be, came into the room. She saw the player piano and in a flash, lifted the lid, slid it back, and was going to check it out. ( She and I could play a mean "Heart and Soul" duet) My ex and I (non coke users) couldn't stop laughing because we knew she was unaware what happened, and the druggies were freaked out at the loss of their crapola.

4) My children. Of course those delivery nights are the best, but maybe not in terms of having fun! Bryan was born at 2:02 AM and Caitlin at 9:34 AM. I wore blue socks into the delivery room for Bryan and pink for Caitlin. I still have them, never wore them again afterwards. They were my lucky socks. Not quite my usual party memories, far from it, but the most important nights of my life.

5) My 5th best time of my life ... has yet to happen, but I look forward to it.

I am supposed to tag four people. Because I think their nights will be interesting, I'll tag:

The divine Ms Bossy at I am Bossy
Lori at This Just In
Mary Alica at From the Frontlines
Jami at Not THAT Different

Brad Pitt, Creme Brulee, Big Sun Glasses

Biddy tagged me with this meme:

1. If you could invite three people to dinner, living, dead, or fictional, who would you invite and why?
2. At this dinner, what would you serve?
3. If you could go back in time and live in any era, which would you choose?

The dinner party question has always been out there, but don't you find your answers change throughout the years?

For now I would invite Brad Pitt for eye candy and to PO Angelina 'cuz she's being a b*tch by holding Shilo as hostage to Brad's mother for remaining friends with Jen. (Don't I sound like a rag mag?) I'd include my sister Sandi, because she is a much better cook than I. As everyone else does, I'd ask Jesus. I know, we all have so many questions to ask, but I think we have to wait until his time before we get answers. So I will include him so that he can just turn the water in our glasses into wine.

Dinner would be grilled salmon, wild rice, steamed asparagus (white and green) and creme brulee for dessert. Sandi can cook that, no problem ... JC will supply the wine.

Let's see, to go back in time? I'd prefer into the future, but since I have to pick a past, I'd say send me to the 40's ... Hollywood California. I'd want to be a glamorous fur wearing, platinum blond, with big, umm ....sun glasses, movie star.
No drama, no drugs, no on the couch script readings, just the "already arrived" fun time. (yeah, I know it's all smoke and mirror history)

Instead of tagging anyone, if you want to do the meme, just link back to me so I can read your answers.

Huh?

Sunshine, at and the pursuit of happiness, had an interesting meme posted yesterday. The challenge is to list 10 favorite things using the letter assigned to you. Her "C" fav's made it look easy enough ... until she sent me the letter "H". I admit, I had to think about it, but here goes.

Hendricks ~ One my all time favorite but I do enjoy many different genre's of music. I remember when Bryan was in high school, he downloaded Jimi's version of "Along the Watchtower" and had me listen to this "cool song" he found on Kazaa.

Hamburger
~ Medium well, bleu cheese, lettuce, tomato, red onion on a thin bun.

Home plate ~ Best view in Comerica Park is sitting just left of home plate about 8 rows back ... Go TIGERS!

Harold & Maude ~ Great classic movie. I used to try to imitate the sound Maude would make between her teeth when trying to get Harold's attention at the funeral home. I think the trick is not to have all of them.

Hoodies ~ Sweatshirt type in the winter, light cotton in the spring and fall. It's like taking a favorite robe with you when you go out.

Humor ~ The older I get, the more I appreciate humor. Especially laughing at myself. It eases the pain of having those "Kodak moments". I prefer a good comedy over a drama. The only thing I do not find funny is clowns, they creep me out.

Holiday ~ I think my favorite isn't the standard holiday, but a vacation ... like the Europeans say "I'm going on holiday" ... now I could have those kind of holidays anytime.

Hot Air Balloon Ride ~ Yes, I had one and it was awesome. It was early evening, just before sunset in the summer. I was proposed to, presented with a ring, and landed to a champagne toast. The marriage didn't last, but the memory of the ride did!

Homer ~ "Marge, don't discourage the boy, weaseling out of things is important to learn. It's what separates us from the animals ... except the weasel". Homer is a character that both men and women laugh at, albeit for different reasons.

Haiku ~ Hey this was easy
Looking for a new player
Who wants to be next?

Just leave a comment asking for a letter and I will send you one ... I promise not to send X orZ

Meme Part Two

*One thru Four* see yesterdays post

Five* Since I moved out of my parents at age 18 I have had the following pets:

Black Cat: Overday
Calico Cat: Gandalf
Black Cat: Juniper
Black/White Cat: Charlie
Orange Cat: Max
NO MORE CATS ~ I am so allergic!

Green Parakeet:Sweet Pea
Yellow Parakeet: Woodstock
Blue Parakeet: Maggie Mae
Green Parakeet: April
Yellow Parakeet: May
NO MORE BIRDS ~ Too messy

Green Tree Frog: Frog
Iguana: Spike (Spike's story can be a post of its own)
NO MORE REPTILES ~ Can't cuddle them

Fish: Betta: Puppy *yeah, that's his name

Dog: Beagle: Barron ( just died last year, age 15)
Dog: Bichon Frise: Quinn
Lucky Quinn ~ I am not allergic, he's not messy, very cuddly!

Six* I am the laundry queen. I can fold queen sheets into a perfect 1 ft. x 1 ft.square without using a table and it never touches the floor. A necessary talent from using an apartment laundry room when I first moved out. I know boring as hell, but I get the feeling of accomplishment doing something without having to use brain cells.

Seven* I went to school to become a dental assistant. I got certified and started working for a dentist. I quit after one week and never worked in that field again. I am shocked at the lack of dental hygiene in peoples mouths.
**See #4 in yesterday's Part One post**

Eight* I don't like chocolate. I know, how did I ever survive PMS? The only thing with a just a little chocolate in it that I will eat is my favorite guilty pleasure . Ben and Jerry's Cherry Garcia ... Ben, Me, and Jerry ... my kind of menage a trois.

This was my first meme. I opened Pandora's box, but moved some things over to Davey Jones Locker for safer keeping.

I am supposed to tag another 8 bloggers. If you don't want to do this, no problamo. I'm just afraid if I don't tag 8 the blogger police will drop chocolate and sock turds on my site as punishment.

Meme Part One

I was tagged by Stacy at The Peanut Queens Lair to share some randomness. Although I have given more information than most care to know here, I suppose I could open my Pandora's box and spill a little more unknown. So as not to totally bore you, and to give me something to blog about tomorrow, I will post four today, four tomorrow.

The Rules:
Players start with 8 random facts about themselves.
* Those who are tagged should post these rules and their 8 random facts.
* Players should tag eight other people and notify them that they have been tagged.

One * When I was in high school, my friend Al wanted me to meet his older brother assuring me I'd like him. So I met him, at the Egg & I on Woodward in Royal Oak. All he talked about was his band. A couple days later I went to see him at a band practice. It seemed boring, he was into the band thing too much. Oh yeah, Al? That's Al Frey, younger brother of Glenn, yep, of The Eagles.

Two* When I was 18, drinking was legal, one month after I turned 21, the law was changed. I never missed a beat. I'd sneak with my best friend Karin to a bar called "Aorta, the Main Vein in Detroit" ... on 6 Mile Road ... not at all a place where 18 year old girls should hang out. Dumb luck is the only explanation I have for our safety.

Three* Sock Turds irritate me to no end! You know, someone takes their socks off and walks around my cream colored carpet leaving little balls of what ever color socks they have on that had gathered in between their toes and now have been released onto my carpet!

Four* Flossing. Always. In my car. At my desk. Before and after brushing. (brushing = a minimum of three times a day) Other than when I am in the privacy of my bathroom, I am sneaking a quick floss. I can related to Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman when she bee-lined to the bathroom to floss leaving Richard Gere to think she was in there doing a line of illegal party substance. Nothing like a line of floss.
