I always root for the underdog.

Saints 31 Colts 17

Congratulations!

I realize I haven't posted about our trip to Cabo San Lucas from last December. That darn FaceBook makes it easy to be lazy. I posted a few updates and tons of photos from our trip while we were there.

The Arch at Lands End

With every intention to write about Cabo ... our trip to the Florida Keys in a few days has taken over my brain. Nooooooo, we aren't traveling snobs. Don and I have worked hard at building our "vacation money" account and for sure, we play hard to spend it!

Here are a few pics from Cabo. If you've "friended" me on FaceBook, there are several albums of photos. We went early December with my sister Sandi and her husband Gary. We loved it and had a great time. The weather was perfect!

Sunrise just before fishing.

Pelicans chasing our fishing boat
for the bait we were feeding them.

Don, Sandi, Gary, 5 minutes after we arrived at our hotel,
our non-stop cocktail hours began.

Gary & Sandi at "The Office" ...

... where Nancy discovers tequila.
(unfortunately)

The "fishie" I caught.
20 pound Dorado (Mahi-Mahi)

...and after, mmmmm!

New resort, golf course, marina.
Don & Gary golfed here.
Bill Gates & Tiger Woods keep their yachts here.

Slims, the smallest bar evah!

And now, I have to go pack for The Keys and pray that we get out of town before the predicted snow hits!

Roadtrip! [via air]

Thelma Sandi (my sister) and Louise I have had enough of this long, cold, dreary, did I say L O N G winter! Sub zero temps the past couple months, snow so high it will take until August to melt ... no wait, our flippin' sixty degree temps last week melted most of it and the rain that followed dissolved the rest.

So, it snowed this past Saturday. And the prediction for tonight through Wednesday? More S N O W. And the temps ... mid 20's.

Hasta la Viesta Baby!

Our bag's (one bag each, meaning we don't want to need much more than shorts, T's, and swimsuits) are packed, our flight leaves in less than 24 hours and a car awaits us at the furthest point of Florida.

With nothing more than a GPS and ZERO plans, we will be hitting the road to ... humm, where are we going San? Beaches, water, beaches, sunshine, beaches, foo-foo drinks, cabana boys, beaches, and slathering on the suntan lotion as we go.

Our plans are as well thoughout as Thelma and Louise. (With the slight adjustment of no killing of any men, not by gun point at least, and no cliff diving at the end of our trip.)

Can't say we'd pass on picking up Brad Pitt though, if he's out there hitch-hiking.

We'll have our cameras and laptop and post along the way.

TEN, count 'em TEN days in Florida to do nothing or everything, what ever we want!

Pirate Booty

Tampa Florida 76 degrees, on the beach with a metal detector, ok, my life is complete. Well, for now at least.

Bill Jackson's Adventurer in Tampa was thee place to be as far as getting a detector to rent. A mini instruction, a warning not to take it to Fort Desoto Beach because it is a national park, a suggestion of where to find some awesome public beaches and it was treasure hunting time.

I kid you not, two feet onto the beach and the dang thing was beeping. A nickle, woo-hoo, that find just reduced the $35 dollar rental fee down to $34.95. I am hooked.

I know you want to get to the details of the booty haul so check out the photo as you read below.

After the nickle, there were two BudLite beer bottle tops. Not to be out shined, came the coveted Corona cap. A burnt sparkler, a screw, two pop can pull tabs, whoa, I was on a roll. There is half a pair of sunglasses, a couple pieces of unknown wire, a Budweiser can and a some tin. The rusted hook was probably buried the deepest.

And then I heard it, the detector was beeping and the indicator was showing something BIG. As it was becoming more visible, I just knew it was a bomb head. A cylinder, rounded on one end, flat on the other, yep, it was looking like a bomb and if care wasn't taken, it was sure to explode. I carefully lifted it out of the hole, scooped the sand out of this hollow casing and reconsidered. Maybe it wasn't a bomb head after all, maybe it was the top to an acetylene tank or gas tank. But for those few minutes of digging, it was fun to speculate what the heck this thing was.
